Job Description

About us We are looking to add a veterinary technician/assistant to our 2 doctor, 100% avian/exotics practice outside of Charlotte, NC. Experience within veterinary medicine required, and interest in and experience with exotic species (exotic companion mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians) is recommended. This position is full time, approximately 32-40 hours a week, including some rotating weekend hours. The hospital is open Monday - Friday for office hours/patient appointments and treatment responsibilities are shared by technician/ assistant staff on weekends. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Handling exotics properly and safely restraining patients for procedures. Set up, position and take digital radiographs. Being part of the surgery/anesthesia team, by monitoring and assisting surgical procedures. Lab analysis - collection, set up and interpreting of in house tests. Perform venipuncture, and administer medications (PO/IV/IM/SQ). Client education and client communication. Patient husbandry is essential for exotics. Some reception/client services work as needed. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask in a busy work environment, and be team oriented with a positive attitude.
