We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our team as a part-time associate (with potential to move to full time). As a Veterinary Assistant or Technician, you will assist the veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a fast-paced veterinary clinic and make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results
- Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
- Monitor vital signs of animals during procedures and recovery
- Provide post-operative care and administer appropriate medications
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, medication administration, and post-operative instructions Preferred experience/Skills
- 1+ years of previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician required for this position. Please do not apply if you do not have this experience or your application will immediately be rejected.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Ability to handle animals with care, compassion, and patience
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift 40-50lb
- Able to be down on the floor with patients when needed
- Punctual, reliable, coachable, and has a good work ethic
- Takes initiative and moves with a sense of urgency when needed
- Ability to take and follow directions as well as retain information
