Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care and client service. In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians by assisting with medical procedures, animal handling, and clinic operations. Responsibilities Assist with medical collection procedures, including blood draws, urine samples, and other diagnostic tests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for examinations, treatments, surgeries, and laboratory procedures. Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring patient status, administering medications, and assisting during emergency interventions. Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, grooming, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment. Perform laboratory work including sample processing, specimen labeling, and data entry using veterinary software systems. Prepare animals for surgery by performing animal catheterization, setting up surgical areas, and ensuring sterile conditions. Communicate effectively with clients at the front desk regarding pet care instructions, appointment scheduling, and follow-up care while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Skills Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology to assist with medical procedures confidently. Experience in kennel management and dog handling to ensure safe and gentle animal interactions. Laboratory experience with sample collection, processing, and documentation. Proficiency in veterinary software applications for record keeping and appointment management. Excellent animal handling skills across various species including companion animals and equines. Effective communication skills for client interaction, team collaboration, and administrative support at the front desk.
