Job Overview Join our veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate animal handling, assist with medical procedures, and support the daily operations of our veterinary clinic. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment dedicated to excellence in animal health and welfare. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including IV insertion, animal catheterization, surgery preparation, and laboratory testing. Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures. Administer medications, monitor patient vital signs, and support critical care needs for animals requiring specialized attention. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by practicing aseptic techniques during procedures and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Support pet owners with pet care advice, medication instructions, and post-operative care instructions to ensure optimal recovery. Manage kennel duties including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and ensuring the well-being of hospitalized or boarded animals. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and communicating effectively with clients. Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing tests, and recording results accurately. Handle a variety of animals including dogs, and cats with patience and professionalism. Contribute to a team environment focused on delivering exceptional veterinary care through collaboration and continuous learning. Qualifications Previous veterinary clinic experience or veterinary assistant/technician experience is highly preferred. Strong animal handling skills with experience in dog/cat handling, and animal restraint techniques. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures. Experience with IV insertion, medication administration, animal catheterization, and aseptic technique. Familiarity with pet care routines including feeding, and basic medical treatments. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
