The Veterinary Assistant role is a vital part of our team, supporting veterinarians and technicians in the delivery of high-quality medical and surgical care. Duties:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures, including blood draws, vaccinations, and surgeries.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to aseptic technique to ensure the health and safety of animals.
• Provide exceptional care to animals, including pet grooming, pet sitting, and pet care.
• Handle and restrain animals as needed, with a focus on gentle and humane treatment.
• Assist with animal husbandry, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health of animals in the kennel.
• Participate in laboratory testing and other diagnostic procedures as necessary.
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide comprehensive care to animals, including updating medical records and communicating with clients.
• Perform tasks such as cleaning cages and equipment, restocking supplies, and handling inventory.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy is essential.
• A strong understanding of laboratory procedures and aseptic technique is required.
• Experience with pet grooming and pet sitting is an asset.
• Animal husbandry experience and familiarity with kennel operations is valuable.
• Ability to lift and handle animals and equipment, as well as stand for extended periods.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of veterinary critical care and animal anatomy.
• Familiarity with pet care and pet grooming practices.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to aseptic technique.
• Experience with laboratory procedures and animal husbandry.
• Comfortable handling and restraining animals.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
