Upstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Radiology Veterinary Assistant to support our advanced diagnostic imaging team. In this role, you'll work alongside radiologists, veterinarians, and technicians to facilitate high-quality imaging, coordinate patient care, and provide exceptional service to both clients and referring departments. What You'll Do:

Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, including CT and ultrasound preparation Perform diagnostic CT scans while collaborating with contracted radiologists to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed Coordinate daily schedules for all imaging modalities to maximize efficiency Communicate with contracted radiologists to organize schedules and support daily workflow Schedule outpatient ultrasound appointments, obtain patient histories, and retrieve medical records Communicate with clients in person and over the phone regarding appointments, procedures, and patient care Safely restrain patients using low-stress handling techniques during imaging procedures Assist with patient preparation, recovery, and procedural support Troubleshoot common issues with imaging equipment and assist with equipment maintenance alongside the Radiology Lead Technician Coordinate patient care with other specialty departments to ensure seamless workflow Participate in quarterly radiation dosimeter badge exchanges and maintain radiology safety standards Work with the Radiology Lead Technician to coordinate radiology scheduling and manage doctor/technician availability Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory throughout all radiology areas Ensure supplies are stocked and available to support daily imaging operations Proactively suggest and implement new ideas to improve department workflow and patient care Assist other hospital departments during non-peak times as needed Participate in department meetings, training initiatives, special projects, reports, and continuous improvement efforts

What We're Looking For:

Experience & Education Previous Veterinary Assistant experience preferred Experience safely restraining patients preferred; Fear Free handling techniques are a plus Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred but not required Skills & Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent client service and interpersonal skills Basic computer proficiency and typing skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Comfortable learning advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and technology Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments and team members Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-first mindset Professional, approachable, and dependable Commitment to Upstate Veterinary Specialties' core values of

Full-Time Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM 40 hours per week

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry patients or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday Comfortable working extensively with computers, diagnostic imaging equipment, and medical software Ability to work in a veterinary hospital environment with exposure to animal odors, noise, radiation safety protocols, and bodily fluids
