Overview We are looking for the right individuals to join our close-knit team as veterinary assistants. Our team is dedicated to helping animals to live long, happy and healthy lives by educating our clients and offering them the best possible care. Veterinary assistants play a vital role in our practice's goal to deliver high-quality medical care in a warm and compassionate environment, as well as exceptional client service. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with animals, supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering top-quality medical care, and interact closely and frequently with pet owners. You will assist the veterinarians with routine procedures and care for patients. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual. This position requires extended time on your feet, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and being able to deal with difficult and emotional situations when people are dealing with sick pets. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Veterinary assistance is a vital role in our clinic. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team dedicated to improving the health of all of our patients. We are open to either full or part time. Full time will be a minimum of 30 hours per week. Part time does not include benefits. Duties Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments by preparing equipment, restraining animals, and monitoring vital signs Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures Provide basic care for animals such as feeding, cleaning and generally maintaining a clean hospital environment. Assist with treatments such as IV placements, administering medications, taking X-Rays, administering vaccinations, etc. Maintain accurate record keeping of patient histories, treatments, medication administration, and procedure documentation Communicate effectively with clients Beneficial skills Experience with animal handling techniques for dogs and cats Experience working in a small animal veterinary hospital is ideal Knowledge of veterinary terminology Skilled in animal restraint methods, pet care routines, and basic surgical assistance including medication administration and record keeping Excellent client communication skills to provide clear explanations about pet health and treatments.

Pay:

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
