Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital is growing! After 60 years of caring for the pets and families of our community, we're thrilled to be opening our second location in August 2026 — and we're building our growing team right now . We're hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistants to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients . You'll help shape the culture of a brand-new hospital from day one, working in a modern facility outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, alongside teammates who are just as excited as you are to build something special. As a sister hospital to our well-loved flagship Rye Harrison location, you'll have the backing of an established team, proven systems, and a trusted name in the community. Our ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, with a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners. Salary:
$17.00 - $23.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a 4-day work week, Monday - Friday, and every other Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries. Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed Maintain accurate medical records Communicate with pet owners about their pets' care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred. Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment. Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately. We care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets, offering advanced medical services alongside boarding and grooming.
