About Us Wave Veterinary Emergency & Wellness Center is a brand-new, state-of-the-art start-up veterinary hospital in the Hamptons providing 24/7 emergency and advanced wellness care. We're a passionate team dedicated to redefining the veterinary experience through compassion, collaboration, and innovation. Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the necessary skills to support our veterinary staff in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role involves working closely with animals, assisting in various procedures, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both pets and staff. There are currently part-time and/or seasonal positions available. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and procedures including but not limited to gathering histories and administering discharges. Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including oral medications and injections. Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising(walking) animals. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Handle administrative duties at the front desk as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records. Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices is essential. Experience with animal handling techniques, including dog and cat handling. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is beneficial. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as we are a 24/7 facility. Understanding & patient that we are a start-up hospital in a seasonal area so patient volumes vary.
