Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Assistant and Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care, complemented by comprehensive veterinary experience and technical expertise. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals, support veterinary professionals, and contribute to high-quality pet healthcare. The position is paid and requires a proactive individual committed to animal welfare, safety, and clinical excellence. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Provide animal husbandry and pet care, including feeding, bathing, grooming, and administering medications as directed. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, including dog handling and general animal restraint methods, ensuring comfort for both animals and staff. Perform laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic analysis to support diagnostic efforts. Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results in compliance with clinic protocols. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and radiography. Operate radiographic equipment (X-ray) to assist in diagnostic imaging while adhering to safety standards for animals and staff. Contribute to veterinary critical care by monitoring vital signs, assisting with emergency procedures, and supporting recovery efforts. Manage kennel duties including cleaning enclosures, monitoring animal behavior, and ensuring a safe environment for hospitalized pets. Support laboratory work involving animal physiology knowledge and laboratory experience to aid in diagnostics or research projects. Skills Proven kennel experience with the ability to handle multiple animals efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology for accurate communication and procedure execution. Experience with veterinary technician tasks such as animal catheterization and aseptic technique application. Knowledge of dental terminology along with pet grooming skills to assist in comprehensive pet care. Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics and sample processing. Ability to handle dogs confidently through training techniques or dog handling experience; excellent animal handling skills overall. Experience working with equine patients is advantageous but not mandatory; a willingness to learn is essential. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients while maintaining professionalism. Pay:
$23.67 - $28.51 per hour
