Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional service. This position requires a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort of animals. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments. Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians. Assist with X-ray procedures and maintain radiology equipment. Support dental cleanings and procedures while understanding dental terminology. Help with pet grooming tasks when needed to enhance animal well-being. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and health maintenance. Skills The successful candidate will possess the following skills: Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices to assist in emergencies. Experience with animal catheterization procedures is a plus. Familiarity with laboratory processes related to veterinary medicine. Understanding of animal anatomy to assist in examinations effectively. Ability to perform X-ray imaging competently. Skills in dog handling to manage various breeds safely. Experience or training as a Veterinary Technician is advantageous but not required.
