Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team in delivering exceptional animal care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal handling, clinical procedures, and client interaction, with a passion for promoting animal health and welfare. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable veterinary experience within a supportive clinic setting. Duties Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with clinical procedures. Handle animals safely and confidently, including dog handling, cat handling and animal restraint techniques. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning and sanitation following aseptic techniques and PPE protocols. Support record keeping by documenting treatments, medication administration, and patient histories accurately. Provide pet care support including feeding, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior and welfare. Assist with front desk responsibilities such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and managing patient records. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe environment for staff and animals. Skills Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting, including kennel experience and veterinary technician experience. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures. Proficiency in animal husbandry practices, medication administration, and aseptic techniques. Strong skills in animal handling, restraint, and behavior management across various species including dogs and horses. Ability to perform record keeping accurately while demonstrating excellent client communication skills. Familiarity with surgical assistance, pet care routines, and critical care procedures in veterinary settings. Commitment to animal welfare through attentive care, proper use of PPE, and adherence to safety protocols.
