•Please note: Previous veterinary clinical experience is required for this position. This is not an entry-level training position.
•Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities | Evenings, Weekends & Holidays Springfield, Ohio The Pet Clinic of Springfield Urgent Care is growing, and we're looking to add an experienced Veterinary Assistant to our team! As Springfield's first dedicated veterinary urgent care , we provide timely, same-day care for pets who need more than primary care but may not require a full emergency hospital. Our goal is to bridge the gap between primary care and emergency medicine while working collaboratively with local veterinarians. Our caseload continues to grow, and we're expanding our hours to better serve our community. Beginning October 1, we'll be adding Thursdays to our schedule. We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who is confident in a clinical setting, works well under pressure, and wants to be part of a skilled, supportive team. Why Join Us? No overnight shifts Structured daytime/evening hours We're working toward a 12:00 PM-10:00 PM shift structure , with the goal of offering full-time team members the opportunity to work four 10-hour shifts per week (Current operating hours are 4:00 PM-10:00 PM) No routine hospitalization or overnight patient care Urgent care medicine without the intensity of a traditional ER Work alongside experienced RVTs, assistants, and veterinarians Opportunity to help shape workflows and the culture of a growing practice A collaborative relationship with local primary care veterinarians A small, community-focused team where your experience and input matter Scheduling and shift availability will depend on staffing, practice needs, and team availability as we continue to grow. What You'll Do Assist with triage and patient intake Obtain and monitor patient vitals Safely restrain and handle patients for examinations and procedures Assist veterinarians and RVTs with urgent and same-day procedures Prepare patients for diagnostics, including radiographs and in-house laboratory testing Assist with surgical, anesthesia, and sedation procedures as appropriate for your training and experience Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies Clean and prepare exam rooms and treatment areas between patients Maintain efficient patient flow in a fast-paced environment Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients Assist with patient discharge and client education Work closely with the entire veterinary team to provide excellent patient care What We're Looking For Prior veterinary clinical experience is required. We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who: Has previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting Is comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats Has experience obtaining patient vitals Is familiar with common veterinary procedures and terminology Is comfortable assisting with diagnostics and treatments Can remain calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment Has strong communication and teamwork skills Is dependable, adaptable, and willing to jump in wherever needed Takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workplace Has a positive, professional attitude and a genuine desire to provide excellent patient care Urgent care or emergency experience is a plus, but not required. We welcome experienced assistants from general practice who are comfortable with a varied caseload and ready for a faster-paced environment. Schedule & Compensation Full-time and part-time opportunities available. We currently provide urgent care Friday through Tuesday , with Thursdays being added October 1 . We're working toward a 12:00 PM-10:00 PM schedule and a four 10-hour shift model for full-time team members as our staffing allows. We're looking for team members who are comfortable with some flexibility as we continue to build our schedule and expand our hours. Competitive hourly pay based on experience and skill set.
