We are seeking to hire a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our amazing team. We have a longstanding tradition of helping our community and beyond with complete veterinary care. Our locally owned hospital has been serving the medical, surgical and dental needs of patients since 1979. We see a wide variety of cases from scheduled to walk-in appointments, which can create a fast-paced environment. As an Assistant the successful candidate's primary role will be to assist the Veterinarian. To do so the candidate need to be able to do the following: Take a patient's weight and other vital signs. Make any medical notes needed. Provide safe and proper patient restraint during examinations and procedures. Prepare instruments and medications. Stock areas and clean kennels and public areas throughout the evening. Clean surgical laundry, instruments, and prepare surgical packs as needed. Clean, fold, and stock kennel laundry throughout the evening. Answer the phones Other duties as assigned Assess and triage which patients need to be seen first. This is a "hands on" position that requires the successful candidate to have the ability to multitask, be efficient in a busy and noisy environment, communicate well with others and be flexible as well as willing to learn new tasks.
