Job Description

Pay:
$20.00+ per hour, based on experience, skill level, and credentials Adamstown Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our family-owned small animal practice. The AVH team is looking for someone with established veterinary medical experience who is comfortable performing routine technician responsibilities and contributing to patient care from the start. This position is primarily focused on outpatient patient care , working closely with our veterinarians during appointments, diagnostics, treatments, and client education. There will also be opportunities to assist with hospitalized patients, procedures, and surgical cases as needed. CVT certification is welcomed and valued, but it is not required. Why Join Adamstown Veterinary Hospital? 4-day full-time workweek Approximately 37.5 hours per week Consistent weekday off Family-owned practice Collaborative, multi-doctor environment Opportunity to fully utilize your technical skills Variety of outpatient, diagnostic, and patient-care responsibilities Continuing education and professional development support Opportunities for mentorship, leadership, and continued growth What You'll Do Assist veterinarians with outpatient appointments and patient care Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and other information for the medical team Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures Collect blood and other laboratory samples Assist with and perform in-house laboratory testing Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic procedures Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Prepare and dispense medications as directed Assist with routine procedures and treatments Provide client education and reinforce veterinarian-directed treatment and home-care instructions Support hospitalized patients and assist the surgical team as needed Maintain accurate patient records Keep treatment and patient-care areas clean, organized, and appropriately stocked Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client-service staff to help maintain an efficient patient workflow What We're Looking For Previous hands-on veterinary medical experience required Comfortable performing routine outpatient patient-care responsibilities appropriate to their experience and role Strong patient-handling and restraint skills Experience with venipuncture, sample collection, medication administration, and assisting with diagnostic procedures Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple patients and priorities in a busy clinical environment Compassionate, team-oriented approach to patient and client care Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and communicate changes in a patient's condition
CVT/LVT/RVT
credentialing is preferred but not required. We are especially interested in candidates who bring solid veterinary medical experience, strong technical skills, and a desire to be an active member of the patient-care team.
