Full Job Description Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing care for animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood draws, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Monitor animals before, during, and after procedures to ensure their safety and comfort
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal housing areas
- Provide basic grooming services such as bathing and nail trimming
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting
- Knowledge of animal handling techniques and behavior
- Familiarity with common veterinary procedures and terminology
- Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Certification or degree in veterinary assisting or related field is a plus
