Job Description

Assist veterinarians with large animal and livestock patients including cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and other farm animals. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position requiring work in hot, humid, cold, rainy, muddy, dusty, and otherwise challenging conditions. Must be comfortable working outside for extended periods, regardless of weather, and traveling to farms and rural properties. Perform significant manual labor, including lifting, carrying, restraining animals, moving equipment, cleaning, loading/unloading supplies, and setting up field procedures. Safely handle and restrain large animals; prior hands-on livestock, equine, farm, or veterinary experience is strongly preferred. Assist with veterinary procedures including vaccinations, blood draws, sample collection, wound care, medications, anesthesia/surgical assistance, and diagnostic procedures as trained. Clean, disinfect, organize, and restock veterinary equipment, vehicles, and field supplies; maintain a high standard of cleanliness and biosecurity. Must be comfortable getting dirty and working around manure, bodily fluids, mud, dust, livestock odors, and physically unpredictable animals. Must be dependable, physically capable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and able to work independently in a fast-paced mobile veterinary environment. This is NOT an indoor-only veterinary job.
