At Major Mike Shipley Spay & Neuter Clinic, we are dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services to our community. Our compassionate team of professionals is focused on improving the well-being of animals while making pet care accessible for everyone. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Assistants to join our team!
Position Overview:
As a Veterinary Assistant at Major Mike Shipley Spay & Neuter Clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. This role involves assisting veterinarians during procedures, providing support for animal care, and helping with administrative duties as needed. Experience is preferred but not required - we're happy to train the right candidate who is eager to learn and passionate about animal welfare.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during surgeries and examinations Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures Administer medications and vaccines as directed Provide compassionate care and comfort to animals Animal restraint and lifting animals up to 50 lbs as needed Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment Answer client questions and provide guidance on post-surgery care Assist with intake, discharge, and basic customer service tasks Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience in veterinary or animal care is preferred, but not required Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks Must be comfortable working with animals of all types and sizes, and able to safely handle and restrain animals Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment up to 50 lbs A positive, compassionate attitude toward animal welfare Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment as needed
Schedule:
Tuesday to Friday Occasional 2-hour Saturday shift
