Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to reduce stress and ensure safety for both animals and staff. Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, cleaning kennels, and monitoring health status. Administer medications and injections (including IV insertions) accurately following veterinary instructions. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files, and document treatments or procedures performed. Support laboratory work by collecting samples, preparing specimens, and assisting with diagnostic tests. (A+ if you are familiar with IDEXX equipement) Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions, medication schedules, and follow-up needs to promote animal welfare. Skills Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Veterinary technician/assistant experience is required. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Skilled in animal handling across different species including dogs and cats. Experience with front desk duties such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping is a bonus. Proficiency in performing laboratory procedures and medication administration. Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly to ensure safety during clinical procedures. Strong understanding of animal behavior to assist with restraint and care effectively.
