Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), where your passion for animal care directly impacts the lives of pets and their owners. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Surgical Support:
Assist veterinarians with physical exams, medical procedures, surgical prep, and emergency/critical care. Safely execute animal restraint for catheterizations, diagnostic X-rays, and treatments while prioritizing minimal stress.
Laboratory & Diagnostics:
Perform in-house laboratory tests, collect diagnostic samples, accurately record results, and maintain strict aseptic techniques in surgical and lab areas.
Patient Care & Husbandry:
Provide attentive care for hospitalized patients, including feeding, bathing, grooming, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining clean, comfortable kennels.
Medical Records & Administration:
Maintain detailed, accurate electronic medical records using standardized veterinary terminology. Handle client check-ins, appointment scheduling, and payment processing as needed.
Client Communication:
Educate pet owners on discharge instructions, preventative pet care, and post-treatment follow-up with clarity and empathy.
Qualifications & Experience Clinical Skills:
Hands-on experience with animal restraint, medication administration, lab procedures, and basic knowledge of animal anatomy/physiology.
Background:
Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant, LVT, or background in kennel management and animal husbandry is strongly preferred.
Key Competencies:
Familiarity with veterinary terminology, dog/cat behavior, and catheterization techniques.
