Job Description

Main Street Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Located in Oakland — just outside Memphis — we are a well-established small animal practice known for comprehensive, compassionate care and a warm, community-centered approach. With a 4-doctor team, advanced surgical capabilities, and a collaborative support staff team, we offer a rewarding environment where your skills truly make a difference. This is an excellent opportunity for Veterinary Assistants who are excited to fully utilize their skills in both surgery and outpatient care — including exotic animal handling — while making meaningful connections with clients and their pets. In this role, you will: Assist with patient preparation and recovery during surgical and dental procedures, including soft tissue, orthopedic, and routine surgeries. Perform dental cleanings under DVM supervision and support extraction cases as needed. Maintain detailed medical records to support accurate patient care using Cornerstone PMS. Support exam room workflow by assisting with outpatient care, patient handling, and preparing for appointments. Communicate with clients to check in for appointments, review treatment plans, provide discharge instructions, and address questions with empathy and clarity. Anticipate the needs of your team to maintain an efficient schedule while upholding the highest standards of patient care. This position is ideal for Veterinary Assistants who enjoy engaging with clients and supporting outstanding patient care in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Training is available for the right candidate — we genuinely invest in growing talent from within.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a 5/8 schedule , Monday-Friday, with rotating availability on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month (9:00 AM-1:00 PM). No on-call or emergency coverage required. Full-time benefits and compensation•:
Compensation:
