What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary team to provide hands-on care to our patients and support the daily operations of the hospital.

Your responsibilities may include:

Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with exams, treatments, surgery, dentistry, and urgent care Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats of different sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions Obtaining and recording patient weights and vital signs Monitoring hospitalized and recovering patients and communicating changes to the medical team Collecting and preparing blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory samples Assisting with diagnostic procedures and treatments Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with surgical procedures Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as trained Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments Restocking supplies and keeping treatment areas organized Helping prepare patients for discharge Following hospital safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures Communicating professionally and compassionately with clients Working with the entire team to make sure patients receive excellent care throughout their visit What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Is reliable, punctual, and takes their responsibilities seriously Has a genuine interest in veterinary medicine and animal health Is compassionate toward animals and their owners Works well as part of a team Is willing to help wherever needed Takes direction well and is open to coaching and feedback Can stay productive during busy periods Communicates clearly and professionally Is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment Is willing to perform all aspects of veterinary assisting, including cleaning, patient restraint, stocking, and other essential hospital duties Takes pride in doing their job well Wants to continue learning and developing their skills Veterinary Experience Is a Plus — But Not Required We welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds, including: Previous veterinary assistant experience Veterinary technician experience Kennel, boarding, grooming, shelter, or other animal-care experience Customer service or healthcare experience Students interested in veterinary medicine or veterinary technology Little or no previous veterinary experience We can teach veterinary skills. What It's Like to Work Here Veterinary medicine is rewarding, but it is also hands-on and fast-paced. Our assistants are an important part of the entire patient-care process. This position involves being on your feet for extended periods, lifting and moving patients and supplies, cleaning frequently, working around bodily fluids, safely handling animals, and staying productive during busy periods.
