Job Description

Barn Hand / Veterinary Assistant Henderson County Veterinary Hospital (HCVH), located in beautiful Athens, TX., is a progressive, mixed animal practice looking for a qualified, highly motivated individual to assume the role of Veterinary Large Animal Assistant. For over 50 years, HCVH has served the people of Henderson County and surrounding towns by providing excellent client service, patient treatment and preventative medicine for both large and small animals. This two doctor practice is focused on providing high-level care to both food and companion animals. We take great pride in serving the people of our community including ranchers, 4-H/FFA youth, local ag teachers and others with various livestock and companion animal species.
Job Focus:
HCVH supports approximately 50% food animal clientele. Currently, the majority of our food animal practice deals with cow-calf operations. We are looking for an individual who can help support our clinic in such areas as barn maintenance, grounds upkeep, feeding livestock, stall cleaning, cattle processing, surgical assistance, livestock handling, inventory maintenance, ranch work. In addition to our cow-calf clients, we see numerous other food/large animal species (i.e. goats, pigs, sheep, alpacas, deer, and horses). The right candidate would be looking for long term employment and the desire to live in a small town community.
Job Duties:
Clinic grounds maintenance and barn upkeep Assist in cattle processing and large animal medical procedures Inventory management of supplies, etc. Ranch work Strive to be part of a community that producers can trust and look to for advice
Qualifications:
Experienced candidates with background in handling cattle and performing ranch related work will be considered a necessary qualification for this job. Willingness to learn and work with others.
