Experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience working in a small animal veterinary hospital. The Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for supporting the veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our patients, while also assisting with daily operations and maintaining a clean and organized facility.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and treatments.
• Provide exceptional patient care, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments, including medication administration and lab results.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely, as necessary.
• Monitor and report any changes in patient health or behavior.
• Maintain a clean and organized facility, including the hospital area, kennels, and reception area.
• Assist with laboratory procedures, including catheterization and blood draws.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting strongly preferred Experience with dental x-rays and prophylaxis strongly preferred Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy and physiology. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively. Certification or training in veterinary assisting or a related field is preferred. Fear Free Certification highly desired. A passion for helping animals and a commitment to their well-being.
