Our clinic is a fast-paced, high-volume veterinary hospital, so this position requires someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working around animals, and willing to perform cleaning and hands-on tasks throughout the day. Responsibilities Provide daily care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, watering, walking, exercising, and basic grooming as directed. Monitor animals for changes in appetite, behavior, appearance, or other concerns and promptly report observations to the veterinary team. Administer medications as directed Safely handle and restrain animals when assisting the veterinary team, following established safety procedures. Assist veterinary staff with basic patient-care tasks and other duties as assigned. Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, runs, treatment areas, walking areas, surgery areas, and other hospital spaces. Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked environment throughout the hospital. Clean and properly prepare surgical instruments after procedures according to hospital protocols. Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, damage, or missing components and report concerns to the appropriate veterinary staff. Assemble and package surgical instrument sets and surgery packs according to established hospital procedures. Label and organize packaged surgical instruments and supplies for sterilization and future use. Assist with sterilization procedures and equipment as trained and assigned. Maintain the surgical instrument-cleaning and preparation area in a clean and organized condition. Properly dispose of animal waste, laundry, and other materials according to hospital procedures. Keep kennels, treatment areas, surgery areas, and supplies properly stocked and organized. Accurately document feeding, walking, medication, cleaning, patient observations, and other assigned tasks when required. Follow all hospital protocols for animal handling, sanitation, infection control, instrument handling, and workplace safety. Communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers and, when appropriate, assist clients with basic questions or direct medical questions to the appropriate veterinary staff. Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality. Perform other kennel, cleaning, patient-care, and hospital-support duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous animal-care, kennel, boarding, veterinary, shelter, or similar experience is preferred. Comfortable working with dogs and cats of different sizes, temperaments, and behavior levels. Comfortable handling animals safely and following instructions from veterinary staff. Willing to learn proper cleaning, infection-control, and surgical-instrument preparation procedures. Dependable, responsible, and willing to work as part of a team. Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail. Comfortable performing frequent cleaning and other physically demanding tasks. Able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work on your feet for extended periods. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. Ability to work Saturday is required.
