Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Kennel Assistant and become an essential part of providing exceptional animal care and support. In this energetic role, you will assist with daily kennel operations, ensure the well-being of our animal patients, and support veterinary staff in delivering top-quality pet care. Your dedication will help create a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for animals in our care, fostering their health and happiness every day. Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and treatment areas to ensure a hygienic environment for animals. Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, watering, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to prevent injury and reduce stress during examinations or procedures. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic medical procedures. Help with intake and discharge processes at the front desk, including recording patient information and updating records accurately. Observe animals closely for signs of illness or distress, reporting findings promptly to veterinary staff. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample labeling or processing to support diagnostic testing. Skills Prior kennel experience or animal handling background that demonstrates comfort working with various species. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and pet care essentials. Experience working in veterinary clinics or with veterinary technicians is highly desirable. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medical procedures, and aseptic techniques. Ability to handle animals confidently using proper restraint methods for safety and comfort. Strong understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and basic laboratory procedures. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and assist pet owners when needed.
