Weekend Kennel Technician Windsong Veterinary Hospital Prosper, TX Job Details Part-time $10 - $12 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Employee discount Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Some college Outdoor work experience Groundskeeping Dog handling Ability to follow instructions Full Job Description Job Overview Windsong Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dependable Weekend Kennel Technician to provide basic care for our boarding patients on Saturdays and Sundays. Our boarding population consists primarily of dogs, with occasional cats, as well as our resident clinic cat. This is a part-time position with short, split shifts and may be especially well suited for a high school or college student interested in veterinary medicine, animal care, or gaining hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital.
Schedule:
Saturday and Sunday Morning shift begins at approximately 7:30 AM Evening shift begins at approximately 7:30 PM Each shift generally takes 30 minutes to ~1.5 hours depending on the number of pets boarding Duties Feed and provide fresh water to boarding patients Administer simple oral or topical medications as directed Walk dogs and provide appropriate exercise and attention Clean and sanitize kennels and boarding areas Clean the outdoor pet yard Perform laundry and maintain a clean boarding environment Assist with scheduled weekend boarding check-ins and check-outs Monitor pets for changes in appetite, behavior, elimination, or general condition and communicate concerns appropriately Provide basic care for our resident clinic cat What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Dependable and punctual Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments Able to follow written instructions carefully Comfortable working independently Willing to clean up after animals and perform physical tasks Responsible enough to recognize and report concerns promptly Available consistently on weekends Previous veterinary or kennel experience is helpful but not required. We are happy to train the right person. Because boarding animals require care regardless of weekends and holidays, reliable attendance is an essential part of this position .
Pay:
$10.00 - $12.00 per hour Expected hours: 2.0 - 8.0 per week
