Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, where your enthusiasm for animal care and exceptional handling skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and clients. In this vital role, you will support the daily operations of our veterinary clinic by providing top-quality kennel management, animal husbandry, and client communication. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all animals while assisting veterinary professionals with essential tasks. Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical spaces using proper cleaning protocols Handle dogs, cats, and other small animals with care, ensuring their safety and comfort during boarding and treatment processes Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint, medication administration, IV insertions, catheterizations, and basic procedures Support animal husbandry activities including feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring health status Record detailed notes on animal behavior, medical history, treatments administered, and daily observations in patient records Communicate effectively with clients at the front desk regarding pet care instructions and appointment scheduling Use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly to ensure safety for both staff and animals during all procedures Experience Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience working with veterinary clinics or hospitals highly valued Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior is advantageous Hands-on experience with surgery support tasks such as restraint during procedures or assisting with medication administration Familiarity with record keeping systems related to pet health records and treatment logs Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and animal behavior understanding Experience with front desk operations including client communication and appointment management is a plus Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and understanding of pet care best practices Join us to be part of a dedicated team passionate about providing exceptional animal care.
