Job Description

We are looking for veterinary assistants to support our veterinarians. The veterinary assistant will educate clients on pet health, ensure the safety and comfort of patients, and oversee continuity of treatment. In this role, you will be working directly with our veterinarians and acting as a reliable set of skilled hands, as well as discussing with clients what their concerns are about their pets. To ensure success, you need to love animals and have the ability to optimize their comfort during treatment and hospitalization while maintaining your own safety. Experience is preferred, but we can train in animal handling skills and medical terminology. Compassion and willingness to learn are traits we look for in all applicants. Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
Ensure treatment areas, examination rooms, hospital areas, cages, and laboratories are clean and organized. Sterilize equipment. Ensure clients and pets are comfortable in the waiting area. Provide empathetic care for hospitalized patients, and keeping patients and their cages clean. Restrain irritable, angry patients appropriately and safely where required. Assist with administering vaccines, medication, and drawing blood. Perform diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests. Work with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure continuity of patient care. Comply with hospital standards, rules, regulations, and policies. Maintain medical records.
Veterinary Assistant Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent. Love of animals! Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong people skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Physically strong and dexterous, and ability to stand for extended periods, ability to kneel on hard floor. We are looking for someone passionate, dependable, who's willing to go the extra mile for our clients and patients! Must be at least 18 years old due to workplace hazards. Experience preferred but not required!
