Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Vet Assistant, where your passion for animal care and enthusiasm for supporting veterinary professionals will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, compassionate environment. As a Vet Assistant, you will be the backbone of our clinic, assisting with animal handling, clinical procedures, and client communication to ensure every patient receives top-quality care. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming atmosphere for both animals and their families. Responsibilities Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint, medication administration, and basic medical procedures to ensure safe and effective treatment. Support kennel operations by cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' health and behavior throughout their stay. Handle pet care tasks including bathing, grooming, and providing comfort to animals before and after procedures. Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, laboratory tests, and medication logs following aseptic techniques and veterinary terminology standards. Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and analysis. Support front desk duties by scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and handling pet owner inquiries professionally. Demonstrate proficiency in animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and species-specific handling techniques for dogs, cats, equines, and other small animals. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills to ensure optimal animal welfare. Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience that demonstrates familiarity with clinical workflows. Strong animal handling abilities including dog handling, animal restraint, catheterization techniques, and pet care best practices. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, and animal physiology to support clinical operations effectively. Experience in veterinary critical care environments is a plus for supporting urgent patient needs. Front desk experience that highlights excellent communication skills and professionalism in client interactions. Ability to perform medication administration accurately while adhering to safety protocols. Familiarity with equine care practices enhances versatility within our diverse animal care team.
