Job Description

This is not an entry level position.
MUST HAVE PRIOR ASSISTING EXPERIENCE.
Proven experience as a veterinary assistant is a MUST. Community Animal Hospital, in Dublin, VA is growing! CAH now has an opening for a full time (32-40 hours, preferred) or part time (20-30 hours) veterinary assistant. The applicant must apply their professional skills in patient handling, sample collection, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education. Only candidates with prior experience will be considered at this time. The applicant must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and maintain high standards of patient care, be able to communicate clearly with the doctors, other hospital personnel and clients to ensure that patients receive the care that they need. Excellent client communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service are essential. Candidates will be asked to schedule a working interview where skills in veterinary assisting must be demonstrated. Candidates will need to be experienced in patient handling and restraint. Community Animal Hospital is a locally owned and operated practice focusing on wellness and preventative care and surgery. Education and Essential Qualifications:
Assisting candidates must have prior experience in a veterinary clinical setting and a basic understanding of pet care protocols. Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required. Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to assist in lifting patients or other objects weighing more than 50 pounds Candidates must be able to stand or crouch for extended periods

Education/ Experience:
High school degree Bachelor's degree a plus but not required Proven prior veterinary nursing experience is mandatory Those with aspirations to be licensed as LVTs or who are in a licensing program are encouraged to apply
