Job Description
Brandt Veterinary Services is hiring a Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant who is looking for a long-term position in a fast-paced, team-oriented practice. This position combines front desk responsibilities with hands-on patient care, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals, helping clients, and being an important part of a veterinary team. We are willing to train the right candidate—but we are specifically looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, and interested in building a long-term career with our practice. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent At least 18 years of age Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry Ability to lift and assist with handling animals safely Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods Preferred Previous veterinary, animal care, kennel, or pet industry experience Customer service or receptionist experience Experience working in a fast-paced environment What We're Looking For Reliable and punctual attendance Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Professional communication skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Team-oriented attitude Compassion for animals and their owners Ability to handle animals that may be nervous, stressed, sick, or injured Work Environment Fast-paced veterinary practice Exposure to animals, noise, odors, animal waste, and medical procedures Risk of bites and scratches when handling animals Physical work including lifting, bending, cleaning, and standing for long periods Receptionist Duties Greet clients and provide professional, compassionate customer service Answer phones and schedule appointments, respond to client inquiries Admit and discharge patients according to hospital procedures Communicate treatment plans and care per doctor instructions Process prescription requests, invoices and payments Maintain accurate patient records Veterinary Assistant Duties Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and procedures Safely restrain animals for examinations and treatments Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces Assist with laboratory testing, including fecal exams, heartworm testing, urinalysis, and cytology Support radiographs and routine treatment procedures Monitor hospitalized patients and document observations Clean and maintain equipment and treatment areas General Support Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment Stock supplies and assist with inventory Support coworkers and contribute to a positive team culture Help wherever needed to ensure quality patient care Schedule Full-time 8-hour or 10-hour shifts Weekend availability as needed Benefits 401(k) with matching Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off Employee discount Why Join Brandt Veterinary Services?
