Job Description
Job Summary Small business seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support for both routine and emergency care. Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while adhering to aseptic techniques. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian and monitor animal responses to treatments. Provide care for animals in the kennel, ensuring their comfort and cleanliness while maintaining a safe environment. Handle dogs and other animals with care, ensuring their safety and well-being during visits. Maintain accurate medical records and assist with client communication regarding treatment plans and follow-up care. Help with the daily operations of the veterinary clinic, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment as needed. Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and assisting in emergency situations. Experience Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required. Applicant MUST have at least 1-2 years of experience. Familiarity with animal physiology, medication administration, and kennel management is advantageous. Familiarity with animal restraint and handling. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential for success in this role.
