Job Description

Job Summary Middle Plantation Animal Hospital is looking for a Full-time Pet Care Attendant to join our Family! This is a position requiring weekday and rotating weekend work as a kennel tech. Kennel duties include walking dogs (both hospitalized and boarding), cleaning runs & cages (in both the kennel and hospital areas), feeding pets in the kennel, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the hospital. Kennel techs will have the ability to cross train and learn the following Veterinary Assistant skills: Veterinary Assistant critical skills include, but are not limited to:
  • assisting veterinarians and licensed technicians with patient care
  • restraint for blood draws
  • running in-house lab work
  • assisting with diagnostic quality digital x-rays
  • monitoring of hospitalized patients
  • providing treatments to hospitalized patients caring for boarding animals (i.
e. kennel tasks, cleaning & disinfecting, walks, etc.)proficiency in the proper handling & restraint of patients. This position requires a responsible individual who is capable of working independently. A caring and compassionate attitude is required of all members of our team. Qualified candidates must be committed to providing the highest quality in patient care, demonstrating exceptional client communication skills, as well as embracing and contributing to a positive team-work environment.

  • Organizational ability: demonstrates a systematic approach when carrying out assignments. Is very orderly and excels at turning confusion and chaos into order.
  • Problem solving skills: demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems. Ability to turn problems into logical solutions.
  • Client service skills: consistently ensures that each client is provided with attentive, courteous, and informative service. Gains personal satisfaction from delivering great service.
  • Intellectual ability: accurately and consistently follows instructions. Can provide direction as a form of help.
  • Mathematical ability: able to add, subtract, multiply and divide; ability to convert units of measurement.
  • Computer skills: comfortably and confidently uses a computer and the specialized software.
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Most importantly, applicants must be team players who enjoy working as part of a team in a high energy, fast-paced environment. Priority will be given to applicants with experience working in a veterinary hospital.
