Experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician Riverview Animal Clinic is looking for an experienced veterinary assistant or Washington-licensed veterinary technician to join our growing team. We are a busy, privately owned practice providing wellness care, urgent and emergency care, surgery and hospitalization. With four to five doctors working alongside a talented support team, our days move quickly—but we believe excellent medicine and genuine compassion should always come first. • Teamwork What you'll do Responsibilities will be assigned according to your training, demonstrated competency, licensure and the level of supervision required under Washington law.

Duties may include:

• Safely restraining dogs and cats using compassionate, low-stress handling techniques
• Obtaining patient histories, recording vital signs and preparing patients for veterinarian examinations
• Setting up exam rooms, treatment areas and surgical suites
• Assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, urgent cases and emergency procedures
• Providing attentive nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients
• Collecting blood samples under appropriate supervision
• Placing and securing peripheral IV catheters under appropriate supervision
• Administering permitted injections and vaccines as directed and supervised
• Preparing laboratory samples and performing permitted in-house testing, including fecal testing, urinalysis components, basic hematology and cytology preparation or analysis
• Performing skin scrapes and other permitted diagnostic sample collection
• Obtaining diagnostic images under appropriate supervision
• Measuring blood pressure, oxygen saturation, carbon dioxide and ECG readings
• Performing permitted ophthalmic testing, including tear testing, fluorescein staining and tonometry
• Monitoring sedated or anesthetized patients at the level of supervision required by Washington law
• Maintaining anesthesia under immediate supervision and consultation when properly trained and delegated
• Removing sutures, staples and drains under appropriate supervision
• Administering oral medications and treatments as directed
• Maintaining accurate and timely medical records
• Cleaning, disinfecting, stocking and organizing clinical areas
• Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients and team members
• Recognizing changes in a patient's condition and promptly alerting the veterinarian or licensed technician
• Participating in basic first aid and CPR within the limits established by Washington law
• Supporting teammates wherever needed during busy or unexpected situations What we're looking for
• Previous veterinary-assistant experience is required, or current Washington veterinary-technician licensure
• Strong animal-handling and restraint skills
• Familiarity with common veterinary terminology, medications and clinical procedures
• Ability to remain calm and organized during urgent and emergency cases
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients
• Dependability and personal accountability
• Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback and continue learning
• Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced, collaborative team
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and safely assist with lifting and restraining patients
• A genuine commitment to treating every patient as if they were your own Experience with anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, IV-catheter placement, laboratory procedures, radiology, dentistry or emergency care is especially valuable.

Applicants do not need to know everything on day one, but they must be honest about their experience and committed to learning.

Compensation Starting wage:

$19-$26 per hour, depending on experience, demonstrated skills and licensure.
