Job Description

Veterinary Assistant - Cross-Trained Support Role Hadlock Veterinary Clinic - Port Hadlock, WA Hadlock Veterinary Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team, with the majority of shifts focused on veterinary assistant duties and the occasional CSR/front desk shift as needed. We are strongly interested in candidates with prior veterinary experience who are looking to continue building their skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment. We are a busy small animal general practice serving dogs and cats out of a newly remodeled, state-of-the-art facility , but our days are rarely "routine." Our team enjoys the variety that comes with being a trusted community clinic willing to help when unusual or urgent situations arise. Alongside general practice medicine, we occasionally see unique cases and species that make every day interesting—everything from goose wing amputations and hospitalized owls to guinea pig nail trims, possums with flea problems, and bird feather trims. While we remain firmly rooted in high-quality small animal general practice medicine, our team takes pride in stepping up to help our community when needed. One of the things we are most proud of is our team. We have an incredibly skilled and collaborative staff, including 5 LVTs and 4 doctors , with many team members having been here for 5-10 years . People stay when the work environment is supportive, respectful, and genuinely enjoyable, and we believe that says a lot about our clinic culture. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to continue learning and growing alongside an experienced, knowledgeable team . What You'll Do -
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures Safely restrain patients for exams, blood draws, imaging, and treatments Perform laboratory testing and assist with sample collection Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas Monitor patients and support patient care needs Help maintain accurate medical records Educate clients on medications, follow-up care, and preventive medicine Support the team with day-to-day clinic flow and patient care
Occasional CSR Responsibilities:
Assist with client check-in/check-out as needed Answer phones and help schedule appointments Process invoices and payments Help provide a welcoming, professional client experience

Prior veterinary experience is strongly preferred Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Compassion for both patients and clients Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to jump in and help where needed Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and handle the physical aspects of veterinary medicine Why Join Hadlock Veterinary Clinic?
