Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care to animals in a veterinary clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians and other staff members. This role involves assisting with various tasks related to animal care and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both pets and their owners. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort of animals. Provide proper animal handling and restraint during examinations and treatments. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral, topical, and injectable medications. Perform basic animal care tasks such as feeding, bathing, and exercising animals. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by regularly cleaning kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinarian. Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring proper aseptic techniques are followed. Support veterinary critical care efforts as needed during emergencies. Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices. Qualifications Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology is essential for effective patient care. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is required. Strong skills in animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals. Familiarity with medication administration protocols is beneficial. Ability to perform basic kennel duties including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment for animals. Understanding of aseptic techniques to assist in surgical preparations. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members. A genuine passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute positively to their health and well-being.
