Specifically, someone who is both passionate about animals and growing their career in veterinary medicine. This is a flex-position , meaning you will be cross-trained and expected to cover both roles. Receptionist Responsibilities Greet and check-in clients and their pets with a friendly and professional demeanor. Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle patient follow-ups. Answer phone calls, respond to texts/emails, and address client inquiries in a timely and accurate manner. Process payments and manage client accounts, including insurance claims. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area. Coordinate with veterinarians and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow. Handle any administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, updating records, and assisting with inventory management. Assistant Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in examinations, treatments, and procedures. Provide animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures with a focus on low-stress handling . Take patient histories and help communicate important information to pet owners. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and preparation for testing. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including exam rooms, kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing client communications, and processing payments. Requirements Previous experience (24+ months) as a veterinary assistant and/or receptionist is required. Knowledge of common veterinary terminology. Experience with animal handling techniques for small animals (dogs and cats), and the ability to lift up to 40-lbs. unassisted. The abilities to multi-task and prioritize are essential functions of this position. We are an extremely busy practice, and this position is consistently responsible for various front-facing tasks, all of which need to be handled/considered simultaneously. Keen attention to detail. This position juggles a lot of responsibilities, and the ability to remain aware of different policies and procedures is mandatory. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with both animals and people. The ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. The ability to think quickly, exercise discretion, and use common sense will help you excel in this role. Availability to work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as needed.
