We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care for animals in a clinical setting. You will assist veterinarians in various procedures, ensuring the well-being of our patients while maintaining a safe and efficient environment. Ideal candidates should possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with a passion for veterinary medicine. We are "essential health care workers," hence, when a pandemic strikes we keep working per the Governor's order. We focus on Orthopedic Veterinary Care and the candidate would employ management skills to promote this aspect of our Veterinary Surgical Care. Candidate should be able to manage Veterinary Assistants in their employ, draw blood , run idexx lab machines[ cbc, chem panels , sedivue urinary labs, perform EKG ] transfer records to specialists in cardiology, radiology etc Candidate should be able to manage idexx cornerstone software to run the clinic and manage appointments Candidate should feel comfortable verbally and socially meeting with clients to perform wellness visits and orthopedic exams with the attending Doctor as well as see clients for routine care such as vaccines and blood draws for heartworm tests and other laboratory. Patient care is almost all outpatient but day hospital tasks such as kennel care, medicating patients and housekeeping duties may or may not be part of this job as well.. Team work is essential to team happiness and getting done in a timely fashion depends on this concept. This job is flexible as once the candidate has satisfactorily completed training, the candidate enjoys 15 days of PTO. and becomes eligible for the other benefits mentioned. Because we function as a specialty facility we enjoy shorter working days and hope our employees can enjoy a fuller social life because of this concept. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal health and behavior, providing necessary care and support. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques to minimize stress. Set up surgical ward for complex orthopedic procedures and routinely perform radiology for said procedures Experience Candidates should have the following skills and experience: Proficiency in animal husbandry practices. Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures. Experience in laboratory work related to veterinary medicine. Strong background in animal care Demonstrated ability in animal handling techniques, and restraint. Previous experience working in a kennel or veterinary clinic is preferred.
