Avian & Exotic Animal Clinic of Arizona is looking for a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for a professional who is passionate about working with EXOTIC animals and is dedicated to providing exceptional care. You will work closely with our veterinarians to ensure that our patients receive the highest standard of medical treatment. Please note that this is not an entry-level position; prior experience as a Veterinary Technician is required. Experience with exotics is preferred but not required.

Patient Care:

Assist veterinarians in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of exotic animals, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals.

Surgical Assistance:

Prepare patients for surgery, assist during procedures, and monitor recovery, ensuring all protocols are followed.

Laboratory Work:

Perform diagnostic tests such as blood work, radiographs, and other lab procedures as required.

Anesthesia Monitoring:

Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Client Education:

Provide clients with information on post-treatment care, medication administration, and general care for their exotic pets.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Inventory Management:

Assist in maintaining and organizing medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that the clinic is well-stocked and prepared for all procedures.

Qualifications:

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent with experience in a veterinary setting, preferably with exotic animals. . Prior experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Strong understanding of exotic animal behavior, anatomy, and medical needs.
• Proficiency in handling and restraining a variety of species safely and humanely.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and reassure clients.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
