Senior Veterinary Technician Castle Rock Pet Doc -
Sun City West, AZ Pay:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills Castle Rock Pet Doc is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Technician to join our growing independent practice serving small-animal, exotic, and avian patients. This position is designed for a technician with at least 3 years of strong hands-on veterinary experience, with 5+ years preferred. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently within their role, has solid clinical judgment, anticipates the needs of patients and doctors, and can help keep the medical team moving effectively throughout the day. Technical ability matters, but so does how we work together. Our team culture is extremely important to us. Everyone jumps in where needed, and we're looking for an experienced technician who brings confidence and knowledge to the team without ego. Our Approach to Veterinary Medicine We practice integrative veterinary medicine, combining both Western medicine and Eastern philosophies to support the overall health and well-being of our patients. We are also in the process of implementing Fear Free principles to create a more positive and less stressful experience for pets, clients, and team members alike. Experience with integrative medicine is a plus, but it is not required. An open mind, curiosity, and an interest in learning are more important to us. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures Safely handle and assist with a variety of small-animal, exotic, and avian patients Perform venipuncture and blood collection Place IV catheters Prepare patients for surgical procedures Assist with intubation and anesthesia Independently monitor anesthesia and patient recovery Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics Perform diagnostic radiographs and assist with other diagnostic procedures Maintain appropriate aseptic technique during surgical and medical procedures Maintain accurate medical records and documentation Educate clients regarding medications, treatments, and home care Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition Prioritize patient-care needs in a busy hospital environment Support and share knowledge with less-experienced team members Jump in wherever needed to support patient care and hospital workflow Qualifications Minimum 3 years of veterinary technician experience; 5+ years preferred Strong hands-on technical and patient-care skills Proficiency with venipuncture and IV catheter placement Strong surgical preparation, intubation, anesthesia-monitoring, and patient-recovery skills Strong patient handling skills Experience with laboratory procedures and diagnostics Ability to work independently and use sound judgment within the technician role Strong communication and organizational skills Dependable, adaptable, and team-oriented Comfortable working in a dynamic veterinary hospital environment Experience with exotic and/or avian patients is a plus, but not required; an interest in learning is welcomed CVT credentials are welcomed but not required Compensation & Benefits $25.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated technical skills Full-time position Paid time off Employee discounts on veterinary care, pet food, and supplies Flexible scheduling opportunities About Castle Rock Pet Doc Castle Rock Pet Doc is an independently owned and operated veterinary practice in Sun City West focused on compassionate care, strong client relationships, teamwork, and continued growth.
