Job Summary Under supervision of the Small Animal Specialties supervisor, provide paraveterinary technical and nursing support for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Provide instruction to students, clinicians and staff. Use proper techniques for restraint and handling of patients, administering treatments, and obtaining a variety of diagnostic samples. Maintain equipment, facility stocking, cleaning, and maintenance.

• For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Must possess a Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) or obtain within 3 months of date of hire.

No minimum education required. Experience working in a small animal hospital assisting with medical procedures. Experience using safe animal handling and restraint techniques for a wide variety of small animal patients. Experience working as an animal health technician in a small animal clinical setting, including safe patient handling and restraint for diagnostic procedures, sample collection, transport, as well as experience in obtaining biological samples. Experience calculating and administering dosages of medications including placing IV catheters for administration of fluids and medications. Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of people including clients, clinicians, students and staff. Preferred Qualifications Experience obtaining a variety of biological samples and experience in aseptic technique and working in an operating room. Knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes. Skill to assist in the performance of veterinary medical treatments and procedures.
