Full Job Description Job Title:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team at our new, state-of-the-art urgent care animal hospital. As an integral part of our dedicated team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to animals in need. Currently, we will be open Monday-Saturday 5pm-2am, and open all day on Sunday into Monday morning. Weekends are a must.
Responsibilities:
    Patient Care:
    • Perform a variety of technical procedures, including venipuncture, catheter placement, surgical monitoring, and medication administration.
    • Assist veterinarians with surgeries, triaging, and other medical treatments.
    • Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during procedures.
    • Ability to calculate fluid rates and different medications
    • Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
    Client Relations:
    • Communicate effectively with clients, addressing their concerns and providing clear explanation
    • Handle client inquiries and concerns professionally and empathetically.
    Hospital Operations:
    • Provide proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals.
    • Ability to bend, safely lift, and restrain and carry up to 50lbs
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
    Qualifications:
      Education and Certification:
      • Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent.
      • Valid RVT license in the state of
      California Experience:
      • Experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital setting, preferably in an urgent care or emergency setting for a minimum of 2 years.
      Experience in smart flow and ezy-vet is a plus.
      Skills:
      • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy
      • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in venipuncture, radiology, surgical monitoring for soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, and laboratory procedures, and IDEXX in-house lab equipment and IDEXX radiology
      • Patient prep for CT and diagnostic ultrasound done by outside services.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills.
      • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
