In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians in delivering comprehensive medical services, ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of animals. Your expertise will help create a compassionate, efficient, and professional environment where animals receive top-quality treatment and pet owners feel confident in our care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your veterinary skills in a fast-paced, supportive setting dedicated to animal health and happiness. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and compassionately, utilizing animal restraint and handling skills to ensure comfort and safety for both pets and staff. Perform laboratory tests, including blood draws, urinalysis, and sample processing to support accurate diagnoses. We use IDEXX machines Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, medical histories, and laboratory results with precision. Conduct pet dental cleanings using dental terminology knowledge, and pet care routines to enhance overall animal health. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in accurate diagnosis of injuries or illnesses. Support animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of distress or illness.. Skills Handle animals safely and humanely, utilizing proper restraint techniques. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including surgical and treatment areas and kennels. Knowledge of machine function and maintenance. Enjoy endless learning and expansion of knowledge opportunities. Ability to place intravenous catheters and proper surgery prep. Knowledge and understanding of common drugs and calculations. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy. Proficiency in animal handling techniques, including fractious, fearful pets. Familiarity with dental terminology and performance related to veterinary care. Experience in veterinary critical care settings is a plus. Laboratory experience for obtaining lab samples from our patients. Exceptional interpersonal skills maintaining consistent professionalism in all interactions in a demanding yet team-spirited environment.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
