The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional animal care, assisting with veterinary procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This leadership role requires a strong background in animal handling, laboratory work, surgical assistance, and staff training. The Lead Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of patient care and client communication within our practice. Responsibilities Provide compassionate and comprehensive animal care, including handling and restraint to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Assist veterinarians with various procedures, including surgical assistance and anesthesia monitoring to ensure patient safety during operations. Conduct veterinary laboratory work such as sample collection, analysis, and documentation to support accurate diagnoses. Support veterinary procedures by preparing equipment, assisting during treatments, and ensuring proper sterilization protocols. Maintain equipment functionality through regular maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation. Log controlled drugs accurately in compliance with legal requirements and clinic policies. Manage inventory by ordering supplies, pricing items appropriately, and ensuring stock levels meet the clinic's needs. Utilize veterinary software efficiently for record keeping, scheduling, and communication purposes. Train staff members on clinical protocols, equipment use, animal handling techniques, and safety procedures to promote a cohesive team environment. Uphold high standards of client communication by explaining procedures clearly and providing compassionate support to pet owners. Experience Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role within a veterinary practice or animal care setting. Demonstrated expertise in animal handling, restraint techniques, and anesthesia monitoring. Hands-on experience with veterinary laboratory work and surgical assistance is essential. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record management is required. Prior leadership or to effectively train staff and oversee daily operations. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in equipment maintenance, controlled drug logging, and inventory management.
