Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses. Manage pet care routines including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery post-procedure. Take and develop X-ray images while ensuring proper animal positioning and safety protocols are followed. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning, polishing, and performing pet oral health assessments. Handle animal catheterization, IV placement, and other critical care procedures with precision and care. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts accurately, and communicate treatment plans clearly to clients. Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and providing enrichment activities to promote animal welfare. Support the team with dog training exercises or pet grooming as needed to enhance overall pet well-being. Experience Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal husbandry background is highly valued. Demonstrated veterinary technician experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology. Experience working in veterinary critical care or emergency settings is a plus. Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis enhances your candidacy. Familiarity with equine handling or large animal care is advantageous but not required. Strong dog handling skills combined with animal restraint expertise are essential for success in this role. Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and pet care best practices will support comprehensive patient management.
