Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine Up to $40.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential (6:00 PM-6:00 AM) Full-time opportunity in
Redwood City, California Schedule:
Four 10-hour shifts | 7:30 AM-6:00 PM Advance your specialty veterinary career with the Internal Medicine team at SAGE Redwood City. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you'll work alongside veterinary specialists providing advanced diagnostics, anesthesia, procedural support, and nursing care for patients with complex and chronic medical conditions. This role is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Technician, Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, Specialty Veterinary Technician, RVT, or Senior Veterinary Assistant with strong anesthesia and technical skills who wants to work with advanced procedures including endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, CT, fluoroscopy, and other specialty diagnostics. Within Internal Medicine, you'll help manage complex cases requiring advanced diagnostic workups, inpatient and outpatient treatment, anesthesia, minimally invasive procedures, and ongoing disease management. In Your Day-to-Day, You Will Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for Internal Medicine patients. Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics. Prepare and assist with endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, biopsies, and aspiration cytology . Support advanced diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, CT, and fluoroscopy . Provide anesthesia support, including patient preparation, anesthetic monitoring, and recovery. Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under veterinarian supervision. Assist with NG tube placement, fluid pumps, and other advanced Internal Medicine patient care. Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. Communicate compassionately with clients and collaborate across Internal Medicine, Emergency, and Specialty teams. What You Bring 5+ years of veterinary medicine experience strongly preferred Internal Medicine experience strongly preferred. High level of veterinary anesthesia knowledge and anesthetic monitoring experience. Advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiographic positioning, CRIs, and hospitalized patient care . Experience with Internal Medicine procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, or cystoscopy highly desirable. Strong animal handling and patient restraint skills. Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, CRIs, client estimates, and other veterinary medical calculations. Excellent communication, time-management, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license preferred.
