In this vital role, you will assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, ensure the highest standards of animal care, and maintain a sterile environment. Your expertise will support complex surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and provide exceptional pet care before, during, and after procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting where your skills directly impact animal health and well-being. Responsibilities Prepare surgical suites by sterilizing equipment and maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Assist veterinarians during surgeries by handling instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical supplies. Monitor anesthesia levels using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment, ensuring patient safety throughout procedures. Insert vascular access devices such as IV catheters for medication administration and fluid therapy. Perform animal restraint and positioning to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures. Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic radiology, and radiology diagnostics to support comprehensive patient care. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care, medication administration, and animal husbandry practices as needed. Requirements Proven kennel experience and animal handling skills with a strong understanding of dog and cat behavior. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary procedure assistance. Experience with general anesthesia, veterinary anesthesia monitoring, and medical equipment operation. Familiarity with veterinary laboratory work, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and radiology diagnostics. Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, pet care, and emergency veterinary procedures efficiently. Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Certification or experience in veterinary technician work or equivalent is highly preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique, medication administration, and critical & intensive care practices.
