Position Summary As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will work closely with our veterinarians and veterinary support team to provide high-quality medical and surgical nursing care. You will play an essential role in patient assessment, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, client education, and overall patient care. The ideal candidate is confident in their technical skills, compassionate with patients and clients, dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute to a positive team culture. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and obtain accurate vital signs. Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and medical procedures. Calculate, prepare, and administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments in accordance with Colorado regulations and veterinarian direction. Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia while accurately documenting anesthetic events. Perform dental prophylaxis, full-mouth dental radiographs, dental charting, and assist with advanced dental procedures. Prepare patients and surgical suites for procedures while maintaining strict aseptic technique. Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs using proper positioning and radiation-safety practices. Collect and process blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples; perform in-house laboratory diagnostics and prepare samples for outside laboratories. Place and maintain intravenous catheters and administer intravenous fluids. Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition promptly to the attending veterinarian. Provide compassionate client education regarding medications, preventive care, post-operative instructions, nutrition, and treatment plans. Maintain accurate and complete medical records. Assist with training and mentoring veterinary assistants and other support team members. Maintain equipment, sterilize instruments, and help ensure a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment. Contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace and support the hospital's commitment to exceptional patient and client care. Qualifications Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential in the State of Colorado, or eligibility for registration. Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology program. Strong knowledge of anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, radiology, laboratory procedures, and veterinary patient nursing. Excellent communication and client education skills. Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Proficiency with electronic medical records and veterinary practice-management software. Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred; motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply.
