Job Description

CVCA Wheat Ridge seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to support our cardiology team for dogs and cats. In this role, you'll assist cardiologists with patient intake, triage, exam support, anesthesia monitoring, advanced imaging (echocardiography support, radiographs), and diagnostic sample collection. You'll provide client education, ensure accurate medical records, and help coordinate referrals and follow-up care. Working in our collaborative, learning-focused environment, you'll use advanced cardiac diagnostics and treatments to improve outcomes and quality of life for pets with heart disease. Responsibilities Assist cardiologists with exams, triage, and cardiac procedures for dogs and cats Perform and assist with imaging, including radiographs and echocardiography support Monitor anesthesia and patient status during diagnostic and interventional procedures Collect and process blood and other diagnostic samples accurately Maintain detailed and accurate electronic medical records and treatment plans Educate pet owners on cardiac conditions, medications, and home care Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up with primary veterinarians Ensure proper handling, restraint, and compassionate care of all patients Maintain clinical areas, equipment, and inventory in a clean, safe state Contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused, and respectful team environment Required Skills Small animal anesthesia monitoring Veterinary imaging (radiographs, echocardiography support) Venipuncture and sample collection Veterinary pharmacology and cardiac medications Patient triage and physical assessment Electronic medical record management Client communication and education Safe animal handling and restraint Diagnostic equipment operation and maintenance Cardiology-focused clinical procedures
